For Immediate Release
Montreal -March 23, 2004 - Logo Computer Systems Inc. (LCSI) is proud to announce the availability of a Mac OS X version of MicroWorlds EXT. This exciting program provides students with tools to construct, design, produce, animate, integrate, analyze and explore ideas.
"I am quite pleased with the Mac OS X version of MicroWorlds EX. It retains the look and feel of the current PC version while functioning aptly in the Mac OS X environment," says Michael A. Quinn, President of LCSI. "The addition of a Mac OS X version enables us to offer cross-platform capabilities to teachers and students - part of meeting our ongoing assurance to provide value and quality service to our customers."
Specifically developed for middle school students (grades 4 and up), the program encourages the development of transferable problem solving strategies and critical thinking skills by providing opportunities for both in-depth explorations and project creation. An extremely versatile program, MicroWorlds EX can be used to generate anything from science simulations to mathematical explorations to interactive multimedia stories. The new traveling "smart" turtles carry their information, media, and shapes in their "backpacks"-This feature encourages joint project building by making it easier for students to send information and project components from one project to another.
Available on both Mac and PC, MicroWorlds EX provides full teacher support that includes: tutorials that show how to create curriculm-linked projects; an on-screen techniques panel containing simple step-by-step instructions for hundreds of techniques; and samples that demonstrate the range of project possibilities. MicroWorlds EX is currently available in English and Spanish. Click here for ways to contact LCSI.
