LEGO's NXT programmable brick
With MicroWorlds EX Robotics students can
create simulations or interactive presentations. MicroWorlds EX Robotics
can be used in any area of the curriculum: math, history, science,
geography and language arts.
It's language based, students can talk about what they are doing and what
they want to do using a common language.
With MicroWorlds EX Robotics, students write programs and commands on the
computer and then transfer these programs to the NXT. The NXT
microcomputer is the heart of the LEGO Mindstorms for Schools™ system.
What the Mindstorms NXT works with:
The NXT brick responds to its environment through a variety of sensors.
Light Sensor
Detects changes in the level of light (bright or dark).
Sound Sensor
The Sound sensor detects sound allowing your robot to "hear".
Touch Sensor
The Touch Sensor gives your robot a sense of touch. The Touch Sensor
detects
when it is being pressed and when it is released again.
The NXT also has a text to speech capability that allows your robot to
read text and then speak (OS permitting).
