Title: Journal Zone – the Online Tool for Reflective Collaboration

Journal Zone connects students, from the same room or from across the world, as they build expertise, knowledge, and projects. It is an online, collaborative, multimedia journal environment in which students document and discuss their plans, thoughts, questions, strategies, and solutions perhaps related to a project of study. This classroom tool integrates three common practices of exemplary teaching – journal writing, collaboration, and cognitive scaffolding.
Journal Zone may be used:
- as a ‘journal' for ‘thinking about' and ‘discussing' a project, or
- to create a project ‘presentation', or
- as both a ‘journal' and as the ‘presentation'
