LCSI RELEASES Journal Zone for the MAC
Montreal, October 17, 2002 - Logo Computer Systems Inc. (LCSI)
today announced the release of its Macintosh version of the
award-winning software - Journal Zone. This online tool for reflective
collaboration is a cross-curricular product designed for grades 3 and
up. Journal Zone, the newest innovation from LCSI represents a
breakthrough in educational computing.
"We're really excited about the new Macintosh version of Journal Zone.
Now even Mac users will have the opportunity to bring journal writing
and collaboration into their classrooms. " said Michael A. Quinn,
President of LCSI.
Journal ZoneT is predominantly a "journal" that supports reflective
learning within a social context. As a classroom tool, Journal ZoneT
integrates three common practices of exemplary teaching -journal
writing, collaboration, and scaffolding. The distinctive tools
provided in Journal Zone support individual and group learning by
helping students in planning, reflecting and in commenting effectively
on the work of others.
As a collaborative tool, Journal ZoneT may be used as a journal for
thinking about and discussing a project, to create a project
presentation, or as both a journal and the presentation. The product
works well either in a lab or within classroom based computers. The
software is comprised of a graphics, journal text and comments area.
The text area may be plans, reflections or the project information
itself. The comments area allows students to comment on journal
entries of others or even respond to someone else's comments. In the
graphics area, students can present their ideas visually, using
objects, backgrounds and animation. The Macintosh version of Journal
Zone is available in English only.
