LCSI Announces The "Home-Use-Option" Of LCSI Software

MONTREAL, November 13, 1997 -- Logo Computer Systems Inc. (LCSI), the educational publisher that pioneered the school site license as a cost effective software purchase option, has established yet another unique and inexpensive way for students to continue using the exact same software they're using in school - at home. Introducing LCSI's "Home-Use-Option" program.

Here's how it works: a school that is a registered LCSI site license holder can purchase single copies of any LCSI software and re-sell it to its students for home use. The school can purchase single user copies of any LCSI software title(s), in any quantity and for any platform for unbelievably low prices. Click here for ways to contact LCSI. This purchase option is available through LCSI only.

"We at LCSI are mindful of the budget challenges that schools and parents are facing, and have come up with a flexible and inexpensive way for them to purchase our award-winning software," said Michael A. Quinn, president of LCSI. "You may be asking yourself how we can suddenly afford to offer software at these rates? It's simple: by eliminating costly and unnecessary packaging and printing. All the titles come in a generic packaging and have their documentation stored on diskette or CD ROM," concluded Quinn.

One of the major advantages of this program is that students can continue the projects they began at school using the same software at home. MicroWorlds 2.0 allows students who work on Mac's at school to continue their work on a Windows 95 environment at home, and vice versa.

The Home-Use Option Purchase Program also provides schools with a unique fundraising opportunity. Teachers can resell our titles to their students, for use at home, at a slight mark up but still well below retail prices.

Why not expose your students to a second language? We offer MicroWorlds, My Make Believe Castle and My Make Believe Treasure Isle in Spanish and Portuguese. This is an inexpensive and challenging way to become familiar with another language.

All of the following award-winning LCSI products are available through the Home-Use-Option Purchase Program:

MicroWorlds 2.0 is the most advanced and easy-to-use Logo ever. Students learn through exploration, creation and construction. The actual process of designing and creating a project is a rich learning experience. Students can display their projects on the World Wide Web. In addition, they can access digital videos, photos and sound clips to add to their projects.

Math Links lets you experiment with geoboards, tessellations, geometry, spirals, pentominoes, and much more. Turtle Math builds an intuitive and lasting understanding of geometry and measurement through a "hands-on", visual approach.

My Make Believe Castle and My Make Believe Treasure Isle are fun, educational software products based on the premise that the very best way to stimulate creativity is to give children almost complete control over their play environment. They also develop children's problem solving and logical reasoning skills through a series of challenging educational activities.

LCSI, incorporated in 1980 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, develops and markets a line of award-winning constructivist educational products, including the critically acclaimed, logo-based MicroWorlds line of school products.
